We provide outpatient neurology consultation for adults, including assessment of headache, seizures, memory concerns, movement disorders and other conditions affecting the nervous system.
Neurology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Neurological symptoms can be complex, and often need careful assessment to find the cause and the right course of treatment.
What is Neurology?
Symptoms such as numbness, tingling, pain, weakness or muscle wasting can point to problems with the nerves or muscles. We assess conditions including peripheral neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve compression problems, and where needed arrange further testing to help confirm a diagnosis.
Our neurophysiology service offers nerve conduction studies and EMG on site, which can support the diagnosis of many nerve and muscle conditions.
Nerve & Muscle Conditions
Neurological conditions often involve several parts of the health system, so we work closely with GPs, other specialists, and allied health providers such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to make sure patients receive well-coordinated care.
Working With Your Care Team
We assess and manage a wide range of neurological conditions, including headache and migraine, epilepsy and other causes of seizures or blackouts, memory and thinking problems, and movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease and tremor. We also see patients for follow-up after a stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA), and for conditions such as multiple sclerosis.
Because symptoms like dizziness, altered sensation or changes in memory can have many possible causes, our aim is to take the time to understand the full picture, arrange the right investigations and explain clearly what is going on.
